Our friends from Nineteen, San Jose’s professional Big Band, are throwing a fundraising concert to benefit City Lights! On Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., join us at the theater. You’ll enjoy favorite holiday carols sung by City Lights favorites — including actors from Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show and Kinky Boots.
Directed by San Jose native Gus Kambeitz, Nineteen features musicians who regularly perform in the jazz scene and pit orchestras around the Bay Area. It’s going to be a blast having our artists sing with the Big Band on such numbers as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “White Christmas,” “Santa Baby” and “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm.”
All of these wonderful actors — and the band members! — are donating their time to perform:
Alycia Adame
Lauren Berling
Karen DeHart
AJ Jaffari
Matthew Locke
Mary Melnick
Caitlin Papp
Bart Perry
The concert is part of City Lights’ end-of-year fundraising campaign. The two-month campaign started in November with an anonymous matching gift of $5,000. This wonderful donor, and the people who swiftly matched the gift, made the perfect shining light to kickstart the campaign.
These are tough times for all theaters, with inflation making our costs skyrocket, and foundations reducing their support for the arts. We have a tiered system of pricing for this benefit event so that you can choose the amount that makes the most sense for your budget. Thank you!
