We had so much fun that we’re doing it again! City Lights is once again teaming up with Nineteen, San Jose’s professional Big Band, to present a concert benefitting the theater. This time, we’re putting on a Valentine’s Day show — so the program is all love songs.
Last December, Nineteen and a lively group of City Lights singers performed a benefit concert of holiday tunes. It was a treat for our actors to get to sing with a Big Band, and they were positively glowing on stage. The energy in the theater was amazing.
This Valentine’s Day, you’ll enjoy the vocal stylings of Bart Perry and Karen DeHart from Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show, AJ Jaffari from Kinky Boots, Caitlin Papp from Fun Home, Mary Melnick from Truce: A Christmas Wish from the Great War, and Gloria Stanley from In the Heights.
The music starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 14. Doors open early, at 7 p.m., for a champagne reception featuring a candy buffet and delicious charcuterie plates. Bring your sweetie, your family or your friends to share classic songs from the Great American Songbook. Warm up your Friday night and show your love for City Lights!
Both the Big Band and the singers are donating their time to perform, and we are so grateful. These are difficult, uncertain times for theaters, made worse by inflation and the steep costs of maintaining our aging building. For this concert, we have a tiered system of ticket pricing so that you can choose the amount that makes the most sense for your budget.
Visionary: $90
Benefactor: $75
Innovator: $60
Regular: $45
Student: $25
These prices are the same for all seats in the house, regardless of location. Please let us know if you have any questions.
