The music behind the musical
Apr 12, 2022

When Katie Coleman took a bow on the City Lights stage after Cabaret in 2019, it was a rare and beautiful thing. Usually music directors (and the musicians, for that matter) don’t get their own curtain call.

They really should. Join us for a free Zoom event on Tuesday, April 12, when we’ll talk with Katie about the crucial role of a music director, reminisce about her shows at City Lights and on Broadway, and hear original orchestrations from her new project.

Katie is from the South Bay and now lives in New York. We were fortunate to catch her here in the Bay Area, where this spring she’s working on Rachel Lark’s rock musical Coming Soon. Performances start on April 21 at Z Space in San Francisco, with Katie as orchestrator and music director.

Come enjoy backstage anecdotes, reminisce about Cabaret and LIZZIE at City Lights, and experience what happens behind the music(al). This event is part of our monthly streaming series The Next Stage.

To sign up, just “buy” a free ticket through the event calendar on this page. You’ll receive an email with the Zoom link for April 12.
