Join Nineteen, San Jose’s professional big band, as they treat you to the sounds of the late great Al Jarreau, an iconic American R&B, soul and pop singer and musician. Featuring longtime South Bay vocal favorite Darryl, this event will feature hits including “Roof Garden,” “We’re In This Love,” “Take 5,” “Boogie Down” and “Teach Me Tonight.”

Jarreau, a multiple Grammy Award-winner, is also well known for his 1984 single “After All,” his acrobatic scat singing, and his vocal turn on USA for Africa’s “We Are the World.” You’ll love experiencing live musicĀ on our intimate stage as part of our Lights & Music Concert Series. Bring a friend and introduce someone new to City Lights!

Led by San Jose native Gus Kambeitz, Nineteen features many local musicians who regularly perform in the jazz scene and pit orchestras around the Bay Area. Playing on May 21: Tim Devine, alto sax; Kevin Kono, lead trumpet; Erin Bliss, trombone; Gus Kambeitz, bass; Bob Aron, piano; Bruce Campbell, drums; Nancy Moser, baritone sax; CJ Posner, trombone; James Pasqual, tenor sax; David Rodrigues, trumpet; Craig Diserens, trumpet; Diana Tucker, sax; and Rick South, trombone.
