Why you should see Eureka Day
Because there’s nothing like live theater to make you laugh and cringe at the same time. And thoroughly enjoy the experience.
Because Eureka Day has deep Bay Area roots and local references. Like our 2026 play Running After Shadows, it won Theatre Bay Area’s Rella Lossy Award.
Because artisanal scones.
Because Variety calls the play “a fine night of theater that will fuel post-show conversation long after the curtain falls.”
Synopsis
The Eureka Day School in Berkeley is a bastion of progressive ideals: representation, acceptance, social justice. Every week over artisanal scones, the school’s five board members work to preserve a culture of inclusivity. But when a mumps outbreak threatens the Eureka community, facts become subjective and every solution divisive. This sharp comedy confronts the central question of our time: How do you build consensus when no one can agree on truth?

Should you require accessible parking, email us or add a note to your order to reserve a spot in front of the glass doors. We will accommodate as many as possible. The theater is wheelchair-accessible; book the accessible & companion seats when buying tickets.
For everyone else, there are many lots downtown (street parking can be hard to find). Most ParkSJ garages offer 90 minutes of free parking, and the website ParkSJ.org is a great resource providing real-time parking availability, maps and more.
The closest city lot is the First Street and I-280 Lot, under the freeway. Parking there is limited, but free on weekends and after 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Due to the intimate size of our theater, we unfortunately are not able to seat late patrons. Thank you for your understanding.
