Hedda Gabler

By Henrik Ibsen
Adapted by Brian Friel

Directed by Virginia Drake
Featuring Robert Sean Campbell, Helena Clarkson, Hayley Galbraith, Paul Henry, Steve Lambert, Roneet Aliza Rahamim, and Ruthie Stein
March 21st – April 21st, 2013

Hedda returns from her honeymoon dissatisfied, anticipating a life of tedious convention. Aided and abetted by her predatory confidante, Judge Brack, she begins to manipulate the fates of those around her to devastating effect. Brian Friel’s new version – taking liberties that only a master playwright might – invests Ibsen’s social realist original with psychological truth, presenting Hedda’s gradual mental breakdown as the inevitable consequence of an entirely inflexible social structure.
